In all aspects of their work, the children in the Montessori elementary environment must follow their own interests. When we introduce them to new concepts, we believe that their natural interest and curiosity will carry them through to greater levels of effort. However often children do not immediately pursue any further work. We are not sure how to take them forward to explore these ideas in greater detail, in greater depth. Often we end up closely insisting that they do work that we have suggested to them which they are reluctant to do. Is there another way? This workshop will give us some insights into supporting research in the elementary environment.
